The Asian Art Museum is thrilled to partner with Asian Box to bring the restaurant’s mouthwatering menu of fast-casual, Vietnamese-influenced fare to the Connie and Bob Lurie Cafe on the museum’s first floor and the Sun Family Art Terrace Cafe on the second floor. A Bay Area-based, Asian American- and woman-co-owned restaurant, Asian Box offers museum visitors a chance to enjoy delicious, healthy, freshly made creations by Chef Grace Nguyen.
The entire Asian Box menu is 100% gluten-free and locally sourced. Choose from a signature set “box” — including perennial favorites like banh mi — or build your own custom box by choosing a base of salad, noodles, or rice; adding savory proteins like tofu, shrimp, pork, chicken, salmon, or steak; and selecting from a variety of flavorful toppers and sauces. Vegan options and a kids menu are available, as well as seasonal items inspired by onsite programs and special exhibitions.
Asian Box is open during regular museum hours from 10 AM–5 PM, Friday–Monday and 12–8 PM on Thursdays (the museum is closed to the public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. Anyone is welcome to dine at Asian Box without purchasing a museum admission ticket; menu items are also available for takeout, or guests are welcome to dine outside on the first floor patio. Museum members enjoy a 10% discount on all orders at Asian Box.
Relax outdoors with drinks and refreshments on the East West Bank Art Terrace, where the Sun Family Art Terrace Cafe serves a pared-down menu from Asian Box including beer, wine, and canned cocktails as well as quick bites, snacks, and sweets. Those looking to enjoy a full meal on the Art Terrace can order a to-go box at the Terrace Cafe and pick it up at Asian Box on the first floor. A museum admission ticket is required to dine on the Art Terrace.
